The mural is part of the #BigArtBiggerChange murals curated and produced by Street Art for Mankind in Downtown Houston.

It is about making cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable (United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 11). Cities are drivers of economic growth and contribute more than 80 percent of global GDP. However, they account for more than 70 percent of global greenhouse gas emissions. If well-planned and managed, urban development can be sustainable and generate inclusive prosperity.
“The Fifth Element” focuses on the relationship between humans, city, energy and nature. It suggests that through renewable energy, created from the four elements like air, water, fire and earth, people can live in cities perfectly connected to nature. The circle represents renewable energy, the square, the four elements and the woman’s position is inspired by the Vitruvian man, the all-time iconic images of our Western civilization. The woman depicted is from the Houston community.
