The German Embassy in Washington and Street Art for Mankind are bringing to life a massive Climate Action mural by German artist Hera in Washington DC, to accelerate awareness on climate change and the essential role that women play in tackling the issue.
BACKROUND
Climate change is one of the biggest challenges we face today. And time is running out, as we already see devastating consequences all over the globe. We need all society to get involved!
Yet too few women are participating in the climate conversation. In 2022 at the COP27, less that 34% of country negotiating teams were women. This despite evidence that women are disproportionately affected by climate change, especially in vulnerable populations. And this despite evidence that women are often part of the solution in their own community.
ABOUT THE MURAL
This 135-feet high mural, created by German artist HERA and curated by Street Art for Mankind will serve as a vivid reminder that we need all of society to tackle Climate Change.
As such, children from a local Washington DC school, part of the German Embassy’s Adoption Program, will add to the artist masterpiece during a workshop led in September.
WHERE: 455 I St NW, Washington, DC 20001 (Mount Vernon Triangle)
UNVEILING: Friday September 15th in the afternoon
The mural is made possible thanks to the drive and support of the German Embassy. It also benefits from the support of Mount Vernon Triangle District and 455 Eyes Street who donated their wall for the creation of the mural.
