We are partnering with UN Women, to create a series of #GenerationEqualityMurals around the world calling for gender equality, following the Generation Equality Forum, the world’s leading initiative to accelerate investment and implementation of gender equality. Generation Equality brings together organizations from every part of society to catalyze progress, advocate for change and take bold actions together. Generation Equality Murals’ Artists: Adry del Rocio in Mexico City (March 2021), Lula Goce in Paris (June 2021), Vinie Graffiti in New York City (September 2021), Alice Pasquini in London (July 2022) and now Hera in Berlin (July 2023)
The first mural, created by artist Adry Del Rocio during the Mexico Forum, was inspired by the hopes and dreams of the Mexican Youth, and the drive of the Civil Society to create a brighter future for all women. It is located one block away from the Mexican landmark of the Angel of the Independence in Mexico City, at Rio Lerma 154 Colonia Cuauhtémoc. The mural was made possible thanks to the generous support of Televisa Foundation and thanks to Hotel del Angel who donated their wall.
The second mural was created by Lula Goce to kick-off the
Paris Forum in the iconic Montmartre area. It insists on the activism and the necessary transmission amongst generations to empower women. It is located at 3 rue Caulaincourt in Paris. It was made possible thanks to the support of ManpowerGroup and the commitment of the City of Paris, on the wall of the Mercure & Ibis Montmartre (Accor Group) owned by Covivio.
The third mural was created by Vinie Graffiti in New York to close the the 2021 United Nations General Assembly. It is a tribute to intergenerational activism and to inspiring women, from all around the world, who paved the way to more equality. It is located at 200 East 44th street, 2 blocks from the United Nations. It was made possible thanks to the support of BNP Paribas, the commitment of the City of New York and thanks to Alchemy-ABR Investment Partners and Clarion Partners who offered their wall for this occasion.
The fourth mural created by Alice Pasquini in the vibrant street market of Leather Lane in London, marked the first year of implementation of the Generation Equality Plan, which, amongst other things, calls for equality for women in pay and an end to violence against women and girls. It was made possible thanks to the support of ManpowerGroup and to Johnson Gardens who offered their wall for this occasion.
The fifth mural created by Hera in Mitte, the central borough of Berlin, marks the second year of implementation of the Generation Equality initiative and its entry into the Midpoint Moment, which, amongst other things, calls for accelerated commitment to the “Action Coalition on Economic Justice and Rights”, that aims at increasing women’s economic empowerment by transforming the care economy. It was made possible thanks to the support of Bayer and the Berlin Senate Department for Culture.
