Discover HERE World Environment Day Murals
Street Art for Mankind (SAM) is collaborating with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) to amplify the messages of the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration , a global effort to reverse climate change and biodiversity loss by 2030, by creating a series of #EcosystemRestorationMurals around the world.
This initiative kicked off in Brussels, with a large 40 meter high “Ecosytem Restoration” mural by artist Lula Goce .
The second mural took place in Houston, where artist Martin Ron painted a 16-story high mural, highlighting growing trees as a way to restore local ecosystems and their functions for people and nature.
As world leaders united in New York for Climate Week and the UN General Assembly, SAM created an immense, colorful 3D Ecosystem Restoration mural with artist Carlos Alberto, on the Javits Cente.
Artist duo Nomad Clan, painted in Detroit a cry to awaken civic advocacy in order to restore ecosystems and tree equity, as part of a larger Detroit Be The Change open-air museum.
To celebrate World Environment Day with UNEP, SAM is now creating two murals in Seattle, the only U.S. city recognized as a United Nations “Role Model City” in ecosystem restoration. By artists Victor Ash and Adry del Rocio, they are a call to restore urban forests and save oceans.
SAM’s free App “Behind the Wall®” enables the public to scan the mural – or a picture of it – to hear the stories and engage with the art even from home.
