Unique Diptych Stretched Canvases titled "Child Play vs. Child Labor" created by artist Trek6 for Street Art for Mankind's (SAM) 2017 Miami festival and Exhibition dedicated to raising awareness about child labour and trafficking.
The first canvas, painted in cold and muted blue tones, portrays a young girl visibly marked by hardship. Her posture, bent under the weight of exhausting labor, reveals both physical strain and emotional burden as she breaks rocks—a stark embodiment of the harsh realities faced by many children subjected to exploitative work. The restrained palette underscores the atmosphere of fatigue, isolation, and lost childhood.
In striking contrast, the second canvas radiates with warm, inviting hues. Here, a girl—perhaps the same child in another life or another moment—holds her teddy bear with joy, immersed in play and freedom. Her expression is carefree, her world filled with tenderness and imagination. The warmth of the colors amplifies the sense of safety, innocence, and the fundamental right every child has to experience happiness.
Together, the diptych forms a compelling visual dialogue between oppression and liberation, sorrow and hope. It confronts the viewer with the dramatic disparity between a childhood stolen and a childhood cherished, inviting reflection on the importance of protecting the wellbeing and dignity of every child.
