The mural is part of a series of
#EcosystemRestorationMurals created in partnership with UNEP and FAO to amplify the messages of the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration, a global effort to reverse climate change and biodiversity loss by 2030.
It is a
pledge to restore nature in urban settings and calls for tree equity. Visible from the iconic Pike Place market, it showcases three magnificent species – the osprey (Seahawk), sea otter, and harbor seal – which are all local to the area and have bounced back in number thanks to ecosystem restoration.
This print is focused on the Harbor Seal, urban ecosystems represented by liquid buildings and the diversity of Seattle. In its eyes you can see people from diverse background including a Native American woman.
